Investigations ongoing after fatal fall from shed
Investigations are ongoing by authorities following the death of a man who fell from the roof of a shed in Co. Louth over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening (August 29) in Louth House, Co. Louth.
In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:
“Gardaí are investigating the death of a man at a house at Louth House, Louth, on Saturday evening, August 29, 2020, at approximately 6:00pm.
A man aged in his late 60s was fatally injured when he fell from the roof of a shed. His body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post-mortem will be conducted.
“The Health and Safety Authority [HSA] has been notified and investigations are ongoing for An Garda Síochána,” the Garda statement concluded.
It is understood that the man in question fell from a hay shed.
The HSA confirmed that it is also conducting an investigation into the incident.
Man killed after tractor overturned
A man died after the tractor he was driving overturned in Co. Wexford on Sunday, August 30.
The incident occurred near Ballinabanogue, New Ross, this morning, according to An Garda Síochána.
In a statement this evening, a Garda representative confirmed: “Gardaí attended the scene of a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10:15am this morning, at Ballinabanogue, New Ross, Co. Wexford.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a male in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the tractor he was driving overturned.
“His body was removed to Waterford University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place [on] Monday [August 31].”
