Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning.

A warning has been issued for counties Cork, Limerick and Tipperary, in place this afternoon (Monday, August 3) until 6:00p.m.

Met Éireann said heavy thundery downpours with lightning strikes are possible.

Potential impacts include:

Spot flooding;
Difficult travel conditions;
Poor visibility;
Outdoor event impacts.

Rain warning

A Status Yellow rain warning will also come into effect today for counties Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

Spells of heavy thundery rain can be expected from 5:00p.m until midnight tonight.

Met Éireann said potential impacts include spot flooding and difficult travel conditions.

Tuesday

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for Tuesday (August 4) by the UK Met Office.

The warning is in place from 12:00p.m until 9:00p.m for counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring some disruption to transport and outdoor events.

Weather

Across the country tomorrow, after a mostly cloudy and misty start with patchy rain and drizzle in parts, sunny spells will gradually develop along with scattered showers, according to Met Éireann.

Some of the showers will be heavy and thundery, especially over parts of Connacht and Ulster.

The weather will be cool and unseasonably breezy on Wednesday.

Well-scattered showers are expected to follow on Thursday and Friday, with more widespread showers on the weekend, Met Éireann has forecast.
