An Garda Síochána is moving forward with its effort to engage more with local communities with plans to host clinics in local areas of Waterford.
On Wednesday, December 11, An Garda Síochána will be available in its ‘Community Van’ to complete forms, discuss concerns, report crime or any other business that requires garda attention.
The clinics provide an excellent opportunity for engagement with our local communities, according to gardaí.
The initiative is commencing on December 11 in the following locations and there are plans to extend to other areas within Waterford’s Community Engagement Area.
Location Time Kilrossanty Community Centre carpark 10:00a.m – 11:30a.m Stradbally Town Square 12:00p.m – 1:30p.m Rathgormack Church carpark 2:30p.m – 4:00p.m
It is another example of An Garda Siochána trying to reach out to communities across the country.
Last month it was announced that An Garda Síochána in counties Clare and Tipperary are temporarily loaning a tractor to be used by Community Engagement Gardaí for road safety and farm safety training.
The New Holland T6.155 tractor marks the first ‘garda tractor’ to be used on the roads and has been loaned from WR Shaw Ltd in Tullamore, Co. Offaly to the garda fleet.
The tractor has been used for farm safety training in primary schools and to engage with the public by meeting farmers at local marts to speak about farm safety.
It is being brought to events for road safety, personal safety talks and property marking clinics that will be taking place.
