The FTMTA Statistics Service Report for May 2026 shows this marks a 24% decrease when compared with May 2025.
Tipperary delivered the highest number of new tractor registrations at 21 new tractors for May, while Cork recorded 20 units, Galway, and Wexford each recorded 15 units
The most popular power band for May 2026 was the 161hp to 200hp category, which accounted for 30% of all new tractor registrations for the month.
The over 200hp category accounted for 13% of all new tractors for the month of May 2026.
The monthly average tractor horsepower figure for May 2026 was 156hp, and the two largest tractors registered were each rated at 305hp.
The new tractor market for the first five months of 2026 recorded 1,431 new tractor registrations, a 12% increase over the same period in 2025.
263 imported used tractors were first-time registered in Ireland in May 2026, 12 units lower than in May 2025.
There were 1,218 used tractors registered for the year to the end of May 2026.
The data also shows that the Irish market for new telescopic loaders reported 76% increase in May 2026 at 67 units compared with May 2025.
The two leading brands for the year to date, JCB and Manitou accounted for 71% of the total year to date market, while Weidemann has dropped to a 7% market share in third place.
There were 31 imported used telescopic loaders registered in May 2026, down from the 42 units registered in May 2025.
