Find out how the EU supports organic farming at Ploughing

The EU tent at Ploughing 2025 in Screggan, Co. Offaly is aimed at informing visitors of all ages about the principles of organic farming, zero waste, and the circular economy in action.

Visiting the stand, which will be located at Block 3, Row 9, Stand 199, should be on the itinerary for those interested in learning about how the EU can support Irish organic farms.

On display will be information on the breadth of organic produce available in Ireland, as well as the EU funding available for farming organically.

There will also be advice provided about the education and training opportunities available to Irish people through the EU.

At the EU tent, visitors can ‘Meet the Makers’ of quality Irish organic produce, who will share their stories of how organic farming and circular practices are beneficial to their work.

Staff from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will also attend to answer questions and provide information about EU support and funding opportunities for organic farming.

This funding is part of the EU’s Vision for Agriculture and Food, the bloc's long-term strategy to boost the agri-food sector’s competitiveness and attractiveness.

The EU has launched three short videos featuring Irish organic farmers as part of its 'Step into Organic Farming' series.

These real-life stories show how circular and sustainable practices are already thriving in Irish agriculture.

Ingredients sourced directly from the farmers will be turned into zero-waste finger food by Orla McAndrew, the well-known zero-waste caterer and media chef, and will be served on the opening day of the Ploughing at the EU tent.

The tent will also showcase material from the European Commission’s 'Zero Waste, More Taste' campaign, giving visitors even more ideas for turning sustainable principles into everyday action.

Visitors will have the opportunity to blend their own organic fruit smoothies - no electricity required, thanks to a 'hop on' pedal-powered smoothie bike.

Along with creating a tasty drink, the smoothie bike aims to showcase sustainability, healthy eating, and climate action ideas such as reducing food miles and avoiding packaging waste.

Anyone that visits the EU tent can test their knowledge on sustainable behaviours that can support a healthier planet, through the 'Spin the Wheel' game.

There will be EU staff and partners at the Ploughing to provide information about:

  • Job opportunities;
  • Traineeships;
  • Schools’ programmes;
  • School twinning;
  • The EU Solidarity Corps;
  • Erasmus programmes.

Visitors can find out more about Ireland’s MEPs, and the new Europa Experience – an interactive space in Dublin city centre that provides insights into how the EU works and its impact on people’s everyday lives.

The EU tent will be located at Block 3, Row 9, Stand 199.
