Teagasc is running 13 workshops nationwide this month to focus on family farm finance.

Entitled The Options Workshop, its aims to  focus on providing farmers with new thinking, generate new ideas and help crate additional income on and off the farm.

Those who attend the workshop will hear from farmers who have succeeded at increasing their income and local Leader companies will be on hand to provide information on funding opportunities.

Workshops will run for five consecutive nights over five consecutive weeks and its aims to help farmers examine a variety of income opportunities including:

Assessing your enterprise
Developing your idea
Family farm finance
Farm succession planning
Food enterprise possibilities
Rural tourism
Energy crops/ forestry
Organic opportunities
Alternative land use options
A business plan- the basics
Applying for grant aid.
