The full dispersal sale of the Tullow Hill dairy herd is taking place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 25) on herd owner Mary Moore’s farm at Wastegrass, Tullow, Co. Carlow.

The sale of the pedigree registered herd of Holstein Friesians and Friesian cows will begin at 12:00p.m, and is being run in conjunction with Tullow Mart.

The mart’s manager, Eric Driver said they are “ideal stock for introducing into the winter milk production herd”.

“This is a rare opportunity to purchase cows with generational pedigree breeding,” he said.

The herd has an average production of milk at 4.6% fat and 3.5% protein, which equates to 480kg of milk solids.

The latest recording shows that the somatic cell count (SCC) was 81,000 cells/ml.

The herd is split-calving, with both autumn-calving and spring-calving cows and heifers on offer at the sale.
