With an inspiring programme, a timely focus on women’s role in Irish agriculture and the chance to win an overnight stay for two, the Dairy Women Ireland Conference 2026 promises to be an event not to be missed.
Dairy Women Ireland (DWI) has officially launched its fifth annual conference, inviting women from across the dairy and wider agricultural sectors to come together for a day of inspiration, learning, networking, and celebration.
Taking place on Friday, November 20, 2026, at the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, this year’s conference is proudly sponsored by FBD.
It will centre on the theme 'Our Time Is Now', a powerful message recognising the growing contribution of women to Irish agriculture and the importance of ensuring their voices are heard as the industry looks to the future.
Women have always played an integral role in farms, families and rural communities.
Today, they are increasingly taking on leadership positions, shaping farm businesses, contributing to agricultural organisations and helping to influence the future direction of the sector.
The 2026 conference will celebrate these achievements while encouraging women to embrace new opportunities and recognise their own potential.
The timing is particularly significant, with 2026 designated the International Year of the Woman Farmer, making this an important opportunity to recognise the contribution of women working across agriculture and consider how the next generation can be supported to thrive.
A key highlight of this year’s programme will be a panel discussion on farm succession, titled 'Why Not Her?'
The session will challenge traditional assumptions about who takes over the family farm and explore the opportunities available to women in the next generation of farm ownership and leadership.
Facilitated by Ruth Fennell of Teagasc, the panel will feature dairy farmers Laura and David Hannon from Co. Meath and Mella Briscoe from Co. Galway.
Together, they will explore the importance of open conversations around succession, decision-making and ensuring women are considered when the future of a family farm is being planned.
With a keynote address from Dr. Doreen Corridan, attendees are sure to leave with significant food for thought on one woman's blazing trail of success in the agricultural industry.
Beyond the formal programme, the conference offers an opportunity to meet women who understand the realities of agricultural life, from the pressures of running a farm and balancing family commitments to the satisfaction of building a successful business.
Attendees can share experiences, learn from others. and make connections that continue long after the event itself.
Since launching in 2021, Dairy Women Ireland has been building a national network designed to connect, educate and empower women in the dairy sector.
Through its events, workshops and networking opportunities, the organisation aims to create an environment where women can develop their confidence, exchange knowledge, and support one another, regardless of their level of experience.
For those who spend much of their time managing the demands of farm life, taking a day away to meet like-minded people can be invaluable.
Whether you are actively farming, working in the wider agricultural industry, involved in a family dairy business or just beginning your journey, the DWI conference offers an opportunity to feel part of a wider community.
And, of course, it is also a chance to enjoy a day out, catch up with familiar faces and meet new friends who share your passion for agriculture.
To celebrate the launch of this year’s conference, Dairy Women Ireland is giving one lucky winner the chance to win an overnight stay for two on the night before the conference.
Entering could not be easier.

The message behind this year’s theme is clear: women belong at the centre of conversations about the future of farming.
Their experience, knowledge, and ambition are essential to the continued success of Irish agriculture.
Dairy Women Ireland is encouraging women across the sector to mark Friday, November 20 in their calendars, explore the conference programme and join the organisation in celebrating the women who are making a difference every day.
