The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) is yet to decide on over 800 applications made by farmers under tranche 1 of the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).
The latest statistics published today (Monday, April 8) by the department show that 6,593 (80%) out of a total 8,203 applications have been now been given the green light.
Approvals under tranche 1 began issuing to farmers back in December, with department staff gradually making their way through the applications.
A further 64 applications were granted by DAFM officials since last Tuesday (April 2).
Along with the 862 deemed to currently be “in progress”, 544 applications have been rejected, while 204 have been withdrawn by farmers or their advisors.
The full list of the ten schemes under TAMS 3 with the most recent numbers of approvals is outlined below:

The Animal Welfare Nutrient Storage Scheme, which was the most popular scheme under tranche 1, has the highest number of “in progress” applications at 389.
1,890 applications made by farmers under the scheme have been approved, 144 rejected and 71 withdrawn.
There were no further approvals granted for the scheme over the past week.
TAMS
The data shows that 21 further applications were cleared by the department for the Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme, meaning that 1,631 out of 2,050 applications have now been approved.
There was a similar number of approvals for the Solar Capital Investment Scheme bringing the total number of applications given the green light to 562 out of a total of 751.
57 out of the 259 applications made under the Women Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (WFCIS) remain outstanding. 176 applications have been approved to date.
The Low Emission Slurry Spreading (LESS) remains the only scheme where all tranche 1 applications have been processed.
Meanwhile, department staff are also currently considering 9,110 applications made by farmers under tranche 2 of TAMS 3, which is an increase of 11% when compared with the first application round.
