A Carlow Farmer Wellbeing Day organised by Carlow County Council as part of its health and wellbeing programme targeting farmers will take place at Leinster Mart this month.
This event aims to address the many challenges faced by farmers today, and will offer a range of services focused on health, safety, and overall wellbeing.
The council has been running weekly workshops and information events, with a talk on coping with sudden death taking place on Tuesday, November 5, from 10:00a.m to 1:00p.m at Leinster Mart, Killeshin Road.
The programme will culminate in a wellbeing day on Monday, November 11, from 10:00a.m to 1:00p.m at Leinster Mart, consisting of information stands, wellbeing packs, health supports and other resources for local farmers.

Farmers and their families are invited to join the event which will include:
- Free health checks: Keep your health in check with complimentary health assessments provided by qualified professionals;
- Information stands: Engage with a variety of organisations offering insights and advice tailored to the farming community;
- Farming advice: Connect with agri-specialists who will provide expert guidance on farming practices and addressing current agricultural challenges;
- Free hair cuts: Pamper yourself with complimentary haircuts, ensuring you leave feeling refreshed;
- Free first aid kits: Equip yourself with essential first aid supplies to ensure safety on the farm;
- Lunch included: Enjoy a delicious complimentary lunch.
“This event is an opportunity for our farmers to focus on their wellbeing, while also accessing the information and support they need to navigate the challenges they face.
“We encourage all members of the Carlow farming community to join us for a day dedicated to their health and welfare,” director of services at Carlow County Council, Michael Brennan said.
Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Fergal Browne said the farmer wellbeing day will be a “unique opportunity” to meet with organisations, agri-specialists, get advice and information.
“We will have free farm first aid kits, health checks and lots more on the day. It’s an opportunity to address the many challenges faced by farmers today, from mental health to safety on the farm.
“We invite all farmers and their families to attend this important event, where their health and wellbeing are the top priority. Together, we can strengthen the resilience of the Carlow farming community,” he said.
The programme is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and supported by a range of key stakeholders, including Carlow County Council, Healthy Carlow, Leinster Mart, County Carlow Development Partnership, Embrace FARM, Teagasc, IFA, Macra, and Kelly Agri Consultants.
