Bord Bia has appointed two new market specialists for North America, one to focus on the drinks market, and one to fill a new role specifically created for the meat and foodservice channels.

Adam Hannon joins the Bord Bia global business development team as the meat and foodservice market specialist for North America.

Meanwhile, Daragh Flanagan joins as a drinks market specialist. Both Hannon and Flanagan will be based in Bord Bia’s New York office.

The recruitments are part of Bord Bia’s strategy to expand services to Irish companies currently operating in the US and for those wishing to create new routes to market in North America.

Hannon joins Bord Bia from Lidl Ireland, where he held the role of category buyer for lamb and other products. He is an alumnus of the Bord Bia ‘Talent Academy’, having completed the supply chain and account management programme.

In his new role as meat and foodservice market specialist, Hannon will be responsible for the foodservice channel across all product categories and will support client companies seeking to develop in the market.

Meanwhile, Flanagan comes to Bord Bia after having completed the Jameson graduate programme, where he was based in Norway with responsibility for promotion of the Jameson Irish whiskey portfolio.

More recently, he worked for Diageo Ireland as a luxury sprits executive, responsible for the distribution and performance of key brands throughout Ireland.

In his new role, Flanagan will work to connect Irish companies with customers in the North American market and to help support the growth of Irish brewing and distilling.

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Pippa Hackett (who is currently in the US on a trade mission) said: “It is great to see the expansion of Team Ireland within the US with the appointment of two experienced market specialists to Bord Bia’s global business development team in North America.

Henry Horkan, Bord Bia’s North America manager, said: “Bord Bia is delighted to welcome both Adam and Daragh to the expanding global business development team. They will act as key players for the drink, foodservice and meat sectors, playing an important role for Irish companies exporting to the US.”
