Bord Bia and 10 Irish organic food companies are in Germany this week at Biofach, the leading world organic fair, promoting the best of Irish organic food.

The event in Nuremberg is also aimed at developing new export opportunities.

It will also provide an ideal opportunity to highlight the value of Bord Bia’s Origin Green sustainability programme.

The annual Biofach event brings together over 2,000 exhibitors and over 44,000 trade visitors from 130 countries under the patronage of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements).

Bord Bia has actively promoted Ireland’s presence at Biofach through direct buyer canvassing and by highlighting the profiles of visiting companies.

It is expected that 350 international buyers will visit the Ireland-Origin Green stand.

The German organic market, which is valued at over €7.5 billion, is the primary market for organic food in Europe and well-placed to host Biofach, which celebrates its 27th year in 2016.

Ireland has had a presence at the organic show since 2004.

The Irish companies participating at Biofach are:

  • Good Herdsmen(Processing) Ltd.
  • Irish Country Meats (sharing with Slaney Foods).
  • Irish Seaspray Ltd.
  • Kush Seafarms Ltd.
  • Marine Harvest Ireland (The Irish Organic Salmon Company).
  • Natasha’s Living Food (sharing with SynerChiKombucha).
  • Slaney Food International.
  • Solaris Botanicals Limited.
  • SynerChi Kombucha.
  • The Little Milk Company.

The participating Irish companies are also supported by the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine under the 2016 Organic Market Development Plan.
