Kinisla has apologised to farmers after a "technical banking issue" impacted on some milk payments this month.

According to Kinisla impacted farmers who are customers of Bank of Ireland will be paid by 11pm tonight (Friday, September 18).

However farmers who have accounts in AIB and PTSB will not be paid until tomorrow morning.

Kinisla has also confirmed that farmers with accounts in An Post and the Credit Union will not receive their milk payments until Monday morning.

The dairy business has apologised to suppliers for the "inconvenience".

But concerns have been voiced by some farmers that they could be hit by charges if direct debits and other bills are impacted by the delayed milk payments reaching their accounts.

Earlier this week Kinisla confirmed its price for August milk supplies had been set at 39.6c/L, including VAT, and quality and sustainability bonuses.

Based on Kinisla’s average milk solids for August, the milk price return, inclusive of VAT, quality and sustainability bonuses, is 45.21c/L.

Ths compared to the processor's milk price for July which had been set at 39.1c/L, including VAT, and quality and sustainability bonuses.

This represented an increase of 1.1c/L on the price announced for June milk, the company said.

According to Kinisla, the milk price return, inclusive of VAT and bonuses, would be 42.25c/L, based on average milk solids received in July.

Dairy programme

Meanwhile Kinisla and Teagasc have launched a renewed joint dairy programme for a three-year period.

Kinisla said the ‘Innovating for Success’ programme reaffirms a long-standing partnership with Teagasc on the technical performance, profitability and sustainability of its milk suppliers.

The original joint dairy programme began 30 years ago, and Kinisla - formerly known as Kerry Dairy Ireland - said the renewed programme will continue to provide its milk suppliers with on-farm learning, and access to research and technical advice.
