Major Equipment Intl has expanded its “award-winning” Cyclone mower line-up with 2.8m, 4.2m and 5.6m models, which will feature at next week’s National Ploughing Championships.
According to Major, its Cyclone bridges the gap between a grass topper and flail mower and now has seven models with working widths ranging from 2.0m up to 5.6m.
The MJ30-280 is a 2.8m, 4-rotor machine and is intended for farmers needing a mower for everyday pasture management and for tackling some heavier work.
The MJ30-420 and MJ30-560 models have six and eight rotors respectively. The MJ30-420, a 4.2m model, has one wing and the 5.6m MJ30-560 has two wings. The wings on both mowers fold to result in a 2.5m transport width.
According to a Major Equipment spokesperson, the Cyclone requires “a fraction of the power and fuel that a flail mower would consume”.
The Cyclone mower is constructed using Strenx 700 MC high-strength steel. This material is stronger than steel traditionally used in machinery manufacturing, without compromising the weight of the machine. The undersole discs are produced from Hardox 450, a wear and abrasion resistant steel.
The patented “blender” blade system on Major’s Cyclone mower double-chops the cut material, handling everyday grass topping and the mulching of heavier material “with ease”.
An optional side-shift unit is available; it allows the operator to adjust the mower 30cm to the left and the right.
