Avonmore, which is produced by Kilkenny based dairy co-op Tirlán, continues to be one of the top ten brands in Ireland, according to a new report.
The annual list of the top 100 brands in Ireland is produced by Checkout Magazine and consumer intelligence company, NIQ Ireland.
The report is based on branded value sales across the Irish grocery sector, with NIQ Ireland measuring the sales performance of over 5,000 brands from over 200 product classes.

Coca-Cola tops the Checkout Top 100 Brands for 2024, meaning that the global brand has claimed the number top spot in the rankings for a record-breaking 20 years in succession.
The report on the nation’s favourite brands shows Avonmore in sixth position, after holding fifth place last year, while Brennan’s bread also moved down one position from 2023 to seventh this year.
Tayto and Dairy Milk both maintained their positions from last year to hold third and fourth respectively.

Outside of the top ten, the report showed that many Irish brands were among the biggest movers on the Checkout Top 100 Brands list for 2024.
Irish yogurt brand Glenisk rocketed up the rankings by no fewer than 32 places, from number 92 in 2023 to number 60.
This means that Glenisk is the brand that makes the biggest leap up the rankings in 2024.
“The September 2021 fire at its plant in Killeigh, outside Tullamore, in Co Offaly, halted production for four months and put the brand at a massive disadvantage in the market,” Maev Martin, editor of Checkout, said.
“Its year-on-year climb back up the rankings ever since, and its gargantuan achievement this year, is a testament to the consistent quality of the Glenisk product and to the esteem in which the brand is held by Irish shoppers,” she added.
Apart from Glenisk, many other well-known Irish brands have delivered strong performances this year.
O’Donnells crisps moves from number 49 to number 42, Clonakilty sausages rises from 63 to 57 and Barry’s Tea moves from 33 to 28.
Keogh’s Crisps and Flahavan’s, retain their number 56 and number 62 positions, respectively.

Other brands making big leaps on the list this year include HB Cornetto, which moves up the rankings by 16 places, from number 91 to number 75, and Cadbury Snack, which moves up by 15 places, from number 78 to number 63.
Another sweet treat, Kinder, this time in confectionery, moves up by 13 places from number 47 to number 34.
Frozen potato brand McCain have rose by 12 places in the rankings to 65 in 2024.
Ruth Lloyd Evans, senior business insights manager, retailer services, NIQ Ireland, said that Irish brands have shown “remarkable resilience and innovation”.
“Brands continue to thrive by adapting to changing consumer preferences, investing in sustainable practices, and leveraging digital transformation.
“These strategies help food brands connect with their target audience, drive engagement, and ultimately increase sales.
“The outlook for 2025 is on the rise, as consumer sentiment continues to improve and inflation is stabilising.
“Pressure points are easing and shoppers are shifting from cautious to intentional spending. However, concerns regarding economic stability, personal financial security, and environmental health remain prevalent,” she said.
