Auction report: Machinery pics and prices from Co. Carlow sale
A wide variety of good quality farm machinery drew a large crowd to the auction premises of Micheal Doyle in Tullow, Co. Carlow last Saturday (October 28).
Over 200 lots were up for sale, and prospective buyers from near and far arrived to view and bid on the items.
All lots on offer were from local farmers.
On the day, prices proved to be strong for some items, while there were also bargains to be had. Doyle started with smaller tools and farm equipment; most items sold at or above reserves.Larger machinery such as tractors and trailers attracted several bidders. Some 196 on-site customers registered to bid on the day, while approximately 20 people tried to secure items over the phone.
According to the auctioneer, the sale was a “major success” and it is hoped that another such auction will take place in spring 2018.
A buyer’s premium of 5% of the hammer price is applicable to all sale prices (in the captions below).
No VAT applies to these lots, unless otherwise stated.

Major “on-site” machinery dispersal sale (auction) events come up just a handful of times in any given year here in Ireland; they are a more regular occurrence in the UK – thanks to the availability of a larger pool of equipment. Also Read: Auction report: Video, pics and prices from ‘tidy’ tractor and machinery sale
One such on-site sale was held in England on behalf of the so-called ‘Home Farm’ last week (October 26); the auction comprised of tractors, implements, trailers and other machinery.
