AgTech Ireland has announced CEO of Pearson Milking Technology, Lloyd Pearson as its new chair, to succeed Padraig Hennessy.
CEO of TERRA NutriTECH, Padraig Hennessy was the organisation’s founding chair when set up in 2021. He worked with other founding members to establish the technological innovation company.
The organisation represents companies across policy, research and farm level, with an aim to showcase the benefits of technology adoption on farm and communicate how Agtech has a key role in sustainability to all stakeholders.
Agtech Ireland also acts as a single point of contact for government, media, foreign trade missions and research for its industry.
A spokesperson for AgTech Ireland said that Pearson’s new positions “brings a wealth of experience and a dynamic vision”.
At its October annual general meeting (AGM), there was also an announcement for the election of new directors Catherine Heffernan of MSD Animal Health Ireland, and Conan Condon of Alltech.
Pearson announced that the AgTech Ireland 2024 general election manifesto, launched today (Friday, November 29), would be “a living document”, to which further case studies would be added in the coming weeks.
The document aims to raise awareness among prospective public representatives, and will also provide information on elected government and opposition politicians.
The company stated that it was created as “to the potential of Irish technological innovations to support Irish agriculture in facing a multiplicity of challenges, and the sector’s ability to develop global solutions and optimise Irish export earnings”.
The manifesto makes calls by taking into consideration changes to the nitrates legislation, concerns over the continuation of the Irish nitrates derogation, new obligations on carbon emissions under the Climate Action Act and Plans, and challenging weather conditions.
