Met Éireann has said that the weather will continue to remain unsettled this weekend with spells of rain at times.

The national forecaster said that today (Friday, November 29) will be breezy and wet with rain in the west and southwest which will extend across the country by midday.

Drier conditions with some sunny breaks will develop in the southwest during the afternoon where there will be further falls of rain and drizzle later.

There will be highest afternoon temperatures of 11° to 14°C in a moderate to fresh southerly wind which will be strong at times.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with limited clear spells, along with mist and drizzle at times. Overnight lows of 10° to 12° in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Saturday will be cloudy with mist and drizzle, more persistent rain will arrive in the south and west during the afternoon, before extending to many parts of the country by evening.

It will feel mild with highest temperatures of 13° to 15° in fresh and gusty southerly winds.

There will be further outbreaks of rain on Saturday night, which will clear later to scattered showers. Lowest overnight temperatures of 10° to 12° with moderate to fresh southwest winds.

Sunday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers pushing in from the west, some heavy falls are possible at times. Highest temperatures of 11° to 13° in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, which will veering westerly by evening.

There will be clear spells and scattered showers on Sunday night and it will feel cooler as temperatures drop to between 4° to 7°.

The forecast shows that Monday will be a mostly dry day with sunny spells and isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 7° to 10° in moderate to fresh northwest winds easing later in the day.

On Tuesday, rain will spread eastwards across the country through the morning, followed by a clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers. Afternoon highs of 6° to 10° in moderate southeasterly winds veering northwesterly as the rain clears.

Met Éireann said that rainfall in the coming week will be near to normal for this time time of year.

Drying conditions will be mostly moderate or poor due, while opportunities for spraying will generally be limited, though there may be some opportunities on Monday.

The limited drying and further rain and showers in the week ahead will lead to a slight deterioration in soil conditions.

Well drained soils will remain saturated, moderately drained soils will be saturated or waterlogged and all poorly drained soils will be waterlogged.
