McCabes General Merchants in Canningstown, Co. Cavan, are set to host an open day next Tuesday (November 13).

According to the store supervisor, Daniel McGuinness, there will be a number of attractions for farmers at the event.

He explained to AgriLand that there will be the opportunity for farmers to test the quality of their silage free of charge and a feed nutritionist will be available for consultation on the analysis.

To celebrate the open day, the store will have a number of deals and offers including a free set of blades with every set of cattle clippers purchased.

Workers will be on hand to sharpen clipper blades for farmers on the day, free of charge.

McGuinness said: “We will have a number of exclusive offers and discounts on a range of items and products including clippers, dairy-hygiene products, veterinary products, clothing and other agri-supplies.”

The following people will be attending the event from 11:00am to 2:00pm making themselves available to offer farmers advice and answer any queries they may have:

  • John Porter – Deosan (dairy hygiene);
  • Gerry Hughes – Mayo Healthcare;

  • Mark Lonergan – McIntyres Tool and Equipment (Jeferson and Hitatchi Tools).

McGuinness concluded by saying that the open day will also play host to a €1,000 customer raffle with a range of prizes up for grabs on the day including: 1t of animal feed; 0.5t bag of fertiliser with Sulfur; and a range of veterinary products.
