Meat processor ABP has won 17 awards at the annual Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards (IQFDA), which took place this week at the Mansion House in Dublin.

The business received six gold awards, seven silver awards, and four bronze awards for its meat products, across nine different categories.

In these categories, ABP picked up wins for its: Sirloin Steak; Irish Black Angus Striploin Steak; Irish Wagyu Beef Meatballs; 5% fat lean Irish Beef Burgers Chipotle Chili Seasoning; Irish Nature Mohawk Steak; and Irish Nature T-Bone Steak.

ABP’s Irish Nature T-Bone Steak was also recognised as the ‘Foodservice Product of the Year’.

The seven silver awards ABP received were across the categories of beef; beef steaks ‘other’ cuts; beef steaks ribeye; beef steaks striploin; burgers and meatballs; and reduced fat meat.

Commenting on these awards, Kevin Cahill, managing director of ABP Ireland and Poland, said: “We are extremely proud and honoured to continue our success at the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards.

“It’s truly remarkable to have our products recognised alongside the outstanding food and drink from top Irish producers across the sector.

“These awards highlight the best of what the Irish food and drink industry offers. Receiving 17 awards in various product categories are a testament to the dedication, innovation, and hard work of both our team and our farmer suppliers,” Cahill added.

These aren’t the only awards ABP have picked up in the past week.

The processor received a Responsible Business Award in Northern Ireland for its collaborations with farmer suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint of red meat.

The company received the ‘Collaborative Action’ award recently for its Programme for the Improvement of Sustainability of Red Meat (PRISM 2030) at the 2024 Responsible Business Awards held at ICC Belfast, organised by Business in the Community NI (BITC).

ABP PRISM, which launched in November 2022, involves 353 farmers across the UK, including Northern Ireland, in an initiative with the goal to “improve the sustainability of red meat in the UK by 2030”.
