The weather this week is set to turn slightly cloudier and cooler in some areas, but it will remain dry and warm for most, according to Met Éireann.

Cloud will build over the northern half of the country through this morning (Monday, January 20), with the odd spot of light rain or drizzle possible.

The best of the early sunshine will be further south, but sunny spells will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening, all the while remaining cloudier in the north-west.

Highest temperatures will generally be between 19° and 25°, warmest in the south, but a bit cooler in the north-west and north with highest temperatures of 15° to 18°, with a light, occasionally moderate, northerly breeze.

Tonight will be dry for most with clear spells, but cloudier conditions in the north and north-west, where the odd spot of light rain or drizzle is possible, will spread southwards through the night.

There will be some mist patches too tonight, and lowest temperatures will be 10° to 14°, with a mostly light northerly breeze.

Tuesday

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 21) will be a similar day to today, starting off cloudy for much of the country with the best of the early sunshine further south.

Sunny spells will become more widespread through the afternoon, but again, it will remain cloudier in the northwest where the odd spot of light rain or drizzle is possible.

Highest temperatures will be 19° to 24° generally, warmest further south, but again a bit cooler near north-western and northern coasts, with highest temperatures there of 15° to 18°, with light to moderate northerly breezes.

Tomorrow night will be dry for most with clear spells, but cloudier further north with a little light rain or drizzle possible. Lowest temperatures will be 10° to 13°, with a light to moderate northerly breeze.

Wednesday

Wednesday (July 22) will once again start off cloudy further north with the best of any early sunshine further south, and with sunny spells becoming more widespread through the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures will be 19° to 23° generally, but a little cooler near north-facing coasts, with light to moderate northerly breezes.

Wednesday night will be dry for most with clear spells, but becoming cloudier in the north-west and north with a little light rain or drizzle possible towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 10° to 13°, with light north to north-west breezes.

Rest of week

Thursday (July 23) will be another similar day, starting off generally cloudy with some light rain or drizzle possible, but with sunny spells further south becoming more widespread through the day.

Highest temperatures should be 18° to 24°, coolest in Connacht and Ulster and warmest in Leinster and Munster, with light, occasionally moderate, north to north-west breezes.

Friday (July 24) is set to be another day of sunny spells becoming more widespread as the day progresses, and with just a little light rain or drizzle possible over the north-western half of the country.

Highest temperatures are expected to be 18° to 25°, coolest near Atlantic coasts and warmest in the south and south-east, with light to moderate north-west to west breezes.

Met Éireann said that current indications are for conditions to become more mixed over next weekend as the influence of high pressure wanes, with some rain and showers expected, but also some sunny spells, especially in the south and east.

Highest temperatures will range from the mid to high teens in the west and north, to the low to mid-twenties in the south and east.
