Weather to continue warm and fairly dry but with some showers

The weather over the weekend is set to continue warm with a good amount of dry conditions, but with some showers as well from time to time.

There will be some patches of mist early this morning (Friday, August 15). These will clear, and the day will be largely dry and warm with good spells of sunshine.

Highest temperatures will be 20° to 26°C with light north-east breezes. It will be warmest in the midlands and south.

Tonight will be dry with clear spells and a few patches of mist or fog developing overnight. Lowest temperatures will be 10° to 14° with mostly light north-easterly winds, but freshening along the south coast.

Tomorrow morning (Saturday, August 16) will be dry with sunny spells. During the afternoon and evening, some showers are likely to move up over Munster and into Connacht, with some of these possibly heavy or thundery.

Highest temperatures will be 21° to 27° with moderate east to south-east winds.

Saturday night will be mild and humid. There will be some showers early in the night but it will become mainly dry. Temperatures will fall no lower than 14° to 17° with light to moderate east to south-east breezes.

Sunday (August 17) will start out dry and mostly sunny. Scattered showers will move in from the southwest by around noon and will mainly affect Munster and Connacht through the afternoon and evening.

Some of those showers will be be heavy and possibly thundery. Highest temperatures will be 19° to 25° in mostly moderate south-east winds.

On Sunday night showers will die out and it will become mainly dry. It will be another very mild, humid night with lows of 14° to 17°.

Monday (August 18) will bring a mix of warm sunny spells and scattered showers. Again, showers will be mainly in Munster and Connacht, some heavy and possibly thundery. Highest temperatures are expected to be 19° to 25° in light easterly or variable breezes.

Tuesday (August 19) will be similar with sunny spells and scattered showers, mainly in Munster and Connacht. It will not be quite as warm, with highs of 18° to 23°.

After that, next week will see a fair amount of dry weather with sunny spells and some showers. It will be slightly cooler, with highs of 17° to 21° expected and mostly light to moderate easterly winds, Met Éireann said.
