Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue over the weekend, with the possibility of flooding in coastal areas, before slightly drier weather developing next week, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Friday, March 8) will be largely dry day apart from an isolated shower. There will be a good deal of cloud about today, but some bright or sunny spells will develop at times. By evening time a little patchy drizzle will develop along the southwest coast.

Highest temperatures will be 7° to 10°, coolest in Ulster. It will also be breezy with a moderate to fresh and gusty easterly wind that will be strong on coasts. Tides will be unusually high, with the possibility of coastal flooding in the southwest.

Tonight will be dry in most areas with a mix of cloud and clear spells. However, some light rain and drizzle will occur in southern areas. Lowest temperatures will be 1° to 5°, coldest in the north.

Easterly winds will be mostly moderate in strength tonight, but strong on coasts. Again. unusually high tides will bring the possibility of coastal flooding for all coasts.

Tomorrow (Saturday, March 9) will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, most frequent in the east and south. Some mist will be about also, in highest temperatures of 6° to 9° and moderate to fresh east to northeast winds. Once again, unusually high tides will bring the possibility of coastal flooding for all coasts.

There will be a good deal of cloudy weather over the south and east of the country tomorrow night, with further outbreaks of rain. It will be drier with clear spells in the north and west. Lowest temperatures generally will be 1° to 5° in mostly moderate northeast winds.

For Sunday (March 10), plenty of cloud with further outbreaks of rain are expected, especially in the eastern half of the country. Highest temperatures will be 7° to 10° in light to moderate north to northeast winds.

Outbreaks of rain will continue on Sunday night, mainly near the Irish Sea. Further west, it will be drier with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures should be 2° to 5° in light to moderate northerly breezes.

Monday (March 11) will see mostly cloudy weather with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly over the eastern half of the country. Later in the day, some sunny spells will break through as the rain becomes patchier. Highest temperatures are expected to be 6° to 10° in moderate northerly breezes, falling light later.

Monday night will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells and some patchy light rain or drizzle. Lowest temperatures will be 0° to 4° in light northerly or variable breezes.
