Weather: Mixed and changeable with showers and dry intervals

The weather outlook is mixed and changeable for the coming days, Met Éireann has forecast.

Over the past seven days, rainfall amounts were well below normal across the country with most areas seeing less than 70% of the average for the time of year, the national meteorological service said.

Over the coming week, the weather will be mixed with rain and showers at times but all good dry intervals.

Today (Friday, June 27) will be mostly cloudy and rather breezy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

The rain will be most persistent across the west and northwest of the country with long dry spells elsewhere, Met Éireann said.

The best chance for some bright or sunny spells will be across east Leinster in the afternoon.

It is expected to be a humid day with highest temperatures of 17° to 22° in fresh and gusty southwest winds, warmest in the east.

It will stay humid and breezy overnight with patchy rain and drizzle.

Later in the night, heavier and more persistent rain will develop in Connacht.

Saturday will start out mostly cloudy, with scattered falls of rain and drizzle.

It looks set to become drier and brighter across the northern half of the country during the afternoon and evening with sunny spells, however, cloud and patchy rain will linger in many southern areas throughout much of the day.

Saturday night will see patchy rain, drizzle and mist in the south and southeast.

It will be mainly dry elsewhere with some clear spells. There will be lowest temperatures of 9° to 12° in the north and 13° to 16° in the south with light and variable winds.

Sunday will be a warm and humid day. There will be lots of cloud in the south in the morning with perhaps some patches of mist and drizzle.

However, cloud will break in many areas during the afternoon with bright or sunny spells developing.

There will be lots of dry weather on Sunday night but it will be a little patchy with rain or drizzle in Atlantic coastal districts.

It will be a close and humid night with lowest temperatures of 14° to 17° in moderate southerly breezes.

Monday is expected to be another warm and humid day, with a cloudy start for many with some areas of mist and drizzle.
