The weather this week is set to see a mix of cloud and sunny spells for most areas, although it will turn more unsettled later in the week and next weekend, according to Met Éireann.
There will be some brighter intervals this morning (Monday, June 30), mainly in the east, but overall it will be mostly cloudy, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle extending eastwards, heaviest and most persistent in the west and north. It will become drier and brighter in the west and northwest in the evening.
Highest temperatures will be 16° to 19° in the west and northwest, 19° to 23° elsewhere with light to moderate southerly winds, gradually veering northwesterly and freshening for a time near southwestern coasts.
It will become largely dry tonight with isolated showers, and with some fog patches developing as the last of the rain clears the east early tonight, although it may linger for longer in the southeast.
The best of the clear spells tonight will be in the north and west. Lowest temperatures will be 8° to 13° generally, milder in the southeast, with light, occasionally moderate northerly breezes.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 1) will see a mix of cloudy and sunny weather in the morning as well scattered showers developing by the afternoon, some of which may turn heavy, especially in the south. Better sunny spells will develop in the evening.
Highest temperatures will be 15° to 19°, warmest in the south, in light, occasionally moderate, north or northwest breezes.
Tomorrow night is expected to be largely dry and clear with just isolated showers, mainly in the south. Lowest temperatures will be 6° to 11° in light northwesterly breezes.
On Wednesday (July 2), there will be spells of sunshine with scattered showers, some of which may be heavy in the west and midlands during the afternoon. Highest temperatures are expected to be 15° to 19° or 20° in light to moderate westerly breezes.
Wednesday night will see mostly dry weather with clear skies and just isolated showers. More frequent showers will move into Atlantic coasts towards morning. Lowest temperatures should be 7° to 11° in mostly light west to southwesterly breezes.
Thursday (July 3) will see a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which will be heavy, especially in the north. The showers will become more isolated in the evening. Highest temperatures will be 17° to 20° generally in mostly moderate west or southwest winds, which will be fresher and cooler for Atlantic areas.
Friday (July 4) is set to be mostly cloudy and turning breezy with outbreaks of rain pushing in from the west. Highest temperatures will be 15° to 19° in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.
For next weekend, Met Éireann said outbreaks of rain are forecasted to push in from the west at first, though it may turn drier on Sunday (July 6).
