It all started as simple as day a out to the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska for Eoin Lynch from Mitchelstown last Tuesday morning.
But what happened next – thanks to Agriland – has made the Co. Cork teenager possibly one of the most famous faces in the country this week.
Because little did he know that the short interview that he did with Agriland on that Tuesday (September 17) would be watched over 2.7 million times (and rising) on social media platform TikTok and watched almost four million times (so far) online.
After his now infamous interview on the Tuesday, Eoin made a return visit to the National Ploughing Championships on Thursday (September 19) and had to stop several times to sign jerseys and take selfies with fans on his way into our pavilion at the Ploughing.
Speaking to Agriland, the young Cork agri-enthusiast shared how the whole experience unfolded.
Eoin explained that he was walking around the exhibitions at Ploughing 2024 with his friends and seen Agriland out on the site interviewing people at the event.
“I said I’d chance my arm at this.
“So I went up and I asked them could I do an interview so I just ran ran in and I suppose it went from there,” he said.
The following day, Eoin was at school and was just after eating his lunch when some of his friends said to him: “You’re up on Agriland” and in reply he joked that “I must be famous now so”.
He said when he went home and checked his phone it was “message upon message, like upon like, it is unbelievable”.
You can see Eoin’s now viral interview on the Agriland social media channels and hear him explaining his particular interest in seeing the slurry equipment on display at the Ploughing.
With his strong Cork accent and infectious smile and of course his love of slurry and machinery he appears to have won over not just all the team at Agriland but the whole country this week.
