Agriland will host a new series over the coming weeks which will focus on achieving a successful breeding strategy.
The ‘Partners in Reproduction Series’ is a collaboration between Agriland Media and MSD Animal Health.
The video series will feature three videos, focusing on all things breeding – with the first video going live on Wednesday, March 20.
The second and third instalments in the series will be released on March 27 and April 3 respectively.
The video series will focus on all things breeding as farmers transition from calving to the breeding season ahead.
Breeding season is an important time on farms, as it determines the success of the calving season for the year ahead.
Changes in breeding strategy and adoption of new technologies are going be key to the success of farms going forward.
This video series will focus on a number of key technologies and how farmers can successfully use them on their farms.
Breeding series
The Partners in Reproduction Series will cover topics such as: pre-breeding management; selecting the most suitable cows for sexed semen; synchronisation protocols; and using technology for optimum fertility performance.
The series will feature several of the MSD Animal Health team along with industry experts, and a dairy farmer from Co. Limerick.
In the first video of the series, ruminant business unit director at MSD Animal Health Jack O’Connor, will speak to Prof. Finbar Mulligan from University College Dublin (UCD) about pre-breeding management of cows.
The second video in the series will focus on the use of technology to aid optimum fertility performance.
This video will feature Catherine Heffernan, technical and customer success manager with MSD Animal Health and Brendan Ryan a dairy farmer from Tipperary.
Brendan will speak about the use of Sensehub monitoring technology on his farm and its unique benefits, along with how it can be effectively used during the breeding season for optimum fertility performance.
The third video in the series will feature Eleanor Brady, ruminant veterinary manager with MSD Animal Health and Denis Howard from Munster Bovine.
They will speak about the effective use of synchronisation protocols to achieve optimum results this breeding season.
