The recent unsettled weather conditions are set to continue this weekend, as temperatures reach just over 20º, according to Met Eireann.

Today, Friday, is expected be fresh and quite breezy. A mixture of cloud and occasional rain is likely this morning over eastern parts of the country, but it will turn drier this afternoon.

Conditions are set to be drier and brighter further west, with just the odd shower. Sunshine is forecast to break through more widely later in the day, as temperatures reach highs of 18º in blustery, northwesterly winds.

Tonight will be quite cool with some clear spells, but increasing cloud will bring some patches of drizzle and light rain to Atlantic coastal counties later in the night.

Lowest temperatures of between 5º and 9º are forecast, in light, variable southwest winds.

Conditions for both drying and spraying will be generally poor over the weekend, according to Met Eireann.

Meanwhile, most soils are trafficable at present. There was a risk of some soils in parts of the west and southwest becoming saturated at times over the past few days, it added.

Tomorrow, Saturday, is set to bring some bright spells in eastern areas with a little hazy sunshine.

But a mixture of cloud and scattered showers, affecting western areas in the morning, is likely to extend countrywide by early afternoon.

A clearance will develop in western and northwestern areas later in day, with temperatures reaching just above 20º.

Conditions are forecast to be cloudy and misty in places at first tomorrow night. But it will turn drier and clear up as the night progresses, with temperatures dropping to as low as 7º.

Temperatures are set to range from 16º to as high as 21º, depending on what part of the country you are in.

It will be mild and misty overnight, with the risk of some patches of light rain developing in places – temperatures will float around the low-teens, according to Met Eireann.
