Manufacturers need dealers to sell their products and Deutz Fahr has, over the last few months, expanded its network in Ireland, underlining its commitment to the Irish market.

Deutz Fahr is the brand that SDF sells into Ireland, and is a known and trusted marque that still retains a good deal of respect from farmers who will recall the simplicity of its air-cooled products, although they were phased out many years ago.

Covering southern Cork will be Kearney Bros Agri of Acres, Fermoy. Although the Kearney name has been associated with Deutz and Fahr since the 1970s, the old company, started by the four Kearney siblings around 1977, was wound down in 2009 and the new business, Kearney Bros Agri Ltd, started up that same year.

It is this new company, which is a joint partnership with between Eoin Kearny and Kevin O’Keefe, which will now handle the area for Deutz Fahr. Eoin will be looking after sales while Kevin will be attending to the service aspect.

Stephen Kearney will be looking after the parts side, while one of the original Kearneys, Neilus, father to the brothers, will be involved as well.

They have been importing used machinery for many years now and have built a team of mechanics and a well equipped workshop with an established customer base that may yet retain some loyalty to the Deutz Fahr brand.

Deutz in Galway

In Co. Galway, Mike Hughes, trading as MH Services, has been appointed the Deutz Fahr franchise for the county.

Operating from Cummer, Co. Galway, Hughes served his apprenticeship with a local Same/Hurlimann tractor dealer, and so comes to the brand with a knowledge of the tractors and the company.

He has been trading since 2011, importing and servicing tractors and has been able to build up up a substantial customer base over the years.

SDF believes that he will be a welcome addition to the Galway area for Deutz Fahr providing both sales and service throughout the county.
