Temperatures are set to drop to -3º overnight, as Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for low temperatures.

Issued earlier this evening, the warning is set to come into effect at 2:00am on Wednesday, February 21.

It is forecast to remain in place until 10:00am tomorrow morning.

Tonight is expected to be dry with long clear spells, a few mist and fog patches will develop also, according to Met Eireann. The low temperatures will lead to widespread frost.

Frost and any lingering mist and fog patches will clear in the morning and it will be another largely dry day with sunny spells.

The odd isolated shower will occur along the south and east coast, in an onshore light to moderate south to south-east breeze; temperatures will range from 7º to 9º.

Tomorrow night is forecast to be mainly dry; but, cloud is expected to be thicker with some patchy rain or drizzle along coasts, Met Eireann added.

In the coming days, there is set to be plenty of opportunities for both drying and spraying.

As well as this, fields conditions in well-drained and moderately-drained soils have somewhat improved in the last week and will further improve in the coming days. But, poorly drained soils are currently saturated, the Irish meteorological office said.
