Swifts, who live on a diet of pest-insects like flies and midges, are on "the brink of extinction”, according to BirdWatch Ireland.
BirdWatch Ireland is undertaking surveys to locate nesting Swifts across Fingal, south-Galway and west-Cavan this summer.
