There has been as much as a 20-25% drop off in the number of flocks early lambing this year, according to Kieran McGee.
A noticeable number of younger people are getting into pedigree sheep breeding, more so than on the commercial side.
With scanning well underway for mid-season lambing flocks, Agriland caught up with bovine ultrasound technician, Kieran McGee to see what is happening on the ground.
"There has definitely been an increase in the number of farmers going down the route of lambing ewes earlier this year."
