Winter wheat and spring barley were the main order of business this week. Crops of winter oilseed rape and oats were cut in small amounts.
The harvest kicked into full swing at the weekend as dry and sunny weather allowed for a run at work.
The spring barley harvest has started and is set to get well underway in the next spell of dry weather.
AgriLand spoke to Kevin Egan, an agronomist with Liffey Mills – based in Athy – to see how the harvest is progressing.
At the time of going to print, a good few pockets of spring barley were still to be harvested, and crops of winter wheat remained in places.
Wet weather delayed harvesting last week, but combines were rolling again by the weekend when the main spring barley harvest began.
