A Red McCormick tractor has been reported stolen from a farmyard in Derryguile, Mountmellick, Co. Laois.

The tractor was taken some time 9p.m last night (Tuesday, April 23) and this morning at 6:00a.m (Wednesday, April 24).

The registration is as follows: 04 LS 195, and the tractor can be seen below.

According to messages received by the Mountmellick Rural Text Alert Group, a navy Pajero jeep was also stolen from a farmyard in Brittas during the same time frame.

The jeep has since been recovered from Portarlington, Co. Laois.

Mountmellick Rural Text Alert Group has asked the public to continue to share information in relation to the tractor.

Anyone who may have further information or CCTV footage has been asked to contact Laois Garda Station.

Stolen timber

Separately, the theft of timber was also recently reported from a rural walkway in Co. Tipperary.

Officers believe that the “significant amount of timber” was stolen sometime between Saturday (April 6) and Monday (April 9) from Killeens, Ballynonty.

In 2022, planning permission was granted for a new 7km walk and cycleway along the route of an old peat rail line at Littleton Bog.

The initiative is the first phase of the Littleton Bog Complex, a project to transform the area into a major tourism hub for outdoor activities.
