The weather is forecast to remain mainly dry over the next few days with just a few isolated showers affecting some areas, according to Met Eireann.
This settled weather is thanks to high pressure over Scandinavia producing an easterly airflow over Ireland, Met Eireann outlined, which is blocking out our usual Atlantic rain.
Today, Monday, will be cloudy with patchy drizzle and fog this morning. Good sunny spells are set to develop this afternoon with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.
After a calm start winds are expected freshen gradually from an east to southeast direction, providing good drying conditions this afternoon.
Tonight will see some clear spells being interrupted by patches of drizzle and fog. It will remain rather cool with lowest air temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, according to the forecast.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Tuesday, is set to be another mainly dry day with sunny spells, while just a few scattered light showers occurring are forecast.
Meanwhile, it will be rather cool with temperatures ranging from between 11 to 14 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds.
However, temperatures will fall to between 6 to 9 degrees on Tuesday night, while it is set to remain dry with clear spells.
Wednesday
Eastern areas will be affected by some scattered showers on Wednesday morning, but the rest of the country will remain dry with some sunny spells, according to Met Eireann.
Ground temperatures are expected to dip just below zero in some rural areas on Wednesday night, but it will remain dry and cool.
Thursday
Thursday is forecast to be a cool and breezy day with some sunny spells. Scattered showers are forecast for parts of the east and south with highest temperatures 12 to 14 degrees.
Fresh easterly winds will ease through the day and there is a risk of ground frost in rural areas early Thursday night, Met Eireann outlined.
Friday
Current indications are that the Friday morning will be mostly dry then a band of rain will gradually extend eastwards from the Atlantic, with quite heavy rainfalls possible in the west and southwest, the forecast says.
Forecast charts show the strong possibility of Atlantic rain breaking through on Friday bringing back changeable weather for next weekend, Met Eireann indicated.
Field Conditions will remain testing on poorly drained lands. Well drained and moderately drained soils are maintaining good trafficability at the moment.
However, this is likely to deteriorate significantly by the end of the week, according to Met Eireann.
