A Ford 4600 tractor is to be raffled to raise money for a Co. Limerick woman who was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND).

Carol Liston O’ Connor, who is originally from Athea, has been living in Broadford, Co. Limerick for the past 15 years.

Carol’s husband, Liam is a self-employed plumber and the couple have five children; Ellie-Mai (11), Molly (9), Liam-Óg (7), Mikie and Paddy (4).

Before Carol’s diagnosis in November 2022, she was a very active member of the community.

She was a secondary school teacher in Desmond College (Newcastle West), and along with playing with the Athea ladies football team, she has also held many coaching and official positions in Athea and Dromcollogher Broadford GAA clubs.

Despite her diagnosis and challenges, Carol is currently chairperson of Dromcollogher Broadford Coiste Na nÓg.

Carol now requires 24-hour care and is a wheelchair user and her husband Liam is unable to work full-time, due to managing Carol’s care and their five children.

A fundraiser for Carol Liston O’Connor and family was then established, with the aim to raise money to enable het to avail of treatments and make the necessary adaptations to her home and transportation.

In an effort to raise funds, Eddie Nolan has donated a Ford 4600 tractor for a raffle that is in excellent condition and is worth €10,000.
