The eagerly awaited Meath Macra parade of light tractor run will return this bank holiday Monday, February 3, continuing its mission to support vital charities.
Running since 2018, the event has raised nearly €10,000, with this year’s proceeds going to SOSAD Ireland and Embrace FARM.
Park Rí, Kells, Co. Meath, is the setting for the event, with registration open from 6:30a.m to 7:00a.m.
The run will start promptly at 7:00a.m, offering a striking experience as tractors take to the roads at dawn, moving together as the sun rises.
SOSAD provides support and services for people who are struggling with suicidal ideation, self harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety and also works with people who simply need to talk.
It has seven offices, based in Cavan, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Laois from which it provides its services.
Embrace FARM provides a supportive network for all those affected by farm accidents in this country.
Founded in 2014, it remembers those who have lost their lives in farm accidents and supports survivors. Its mission is to grow and sustain a support network for farm families affected by sudden death and injury.
Inspired by the Darkness Into Light walk, the Meath Macra event blends community spirit with an atmospheric early morning journey. A €20 donation per driver is suggested.
Meath Macra invites all tractors, lorries, and cars to take part, provided they are road-legal and equipped with fully functional lights.
Participants don't need to notify Macra in advance of their participation. Simply arrive on the morning of the event to complete registration.
The parade of light looks set to be a remarkable event that will positively impact the lives of others and Meath Macra is optimistic that it will be the biggest and brightest yet.
Meath Macra is a vibrant youth organisation for individuals aged 17 to 34. With seven active clubs and almost 600 members across Meath, it hosts a wide range of activities, including social events, travel opportunities, public speaking, sports, and agricultural initiatives.
The parade of light tractor run is a passion project organised by a dedicated group of young farmers within Meath Macra.
They come together every year to support and raise funds for charities that provide essential assistance to farmers in need.
Their commitment to giving back to the agricultural community shines through this event, which not only brings people together but also highlights the spirit of generosity and solidarity among farmers.
