Nearly €5.7m issued in scheme payments last week - DAFM

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) paid out close to €5.7 million in payments across various farm schemes last week.

According to the latest data, published by the department, the majority of the payments related to the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES).

€3.74 million was issued to farmers in outstanding payments last week, bringing the total paid out under the flagship agri-environmental scheme to €512.4 million.

The latest payment figures also show that just over €1.2 million was issued to farmers under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS) last week.

The majority, €1.17 million, was paid out under TAMS 3, with an additional €27,000 paid for TAMS 2 applications.

DAFM confirmed that €74.3 million has now been paid out to date under TAMS 3 across 8,552 claims.

29,983 applications for TAMS 3 have been approved by the department, with 10,658 payment applications submitted.

Last week, an additional €160,000 was paid out to farmers under the 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

A total of €847 million has now been paid under these schemes, including €38.5 million for the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers and the 2024 National Reserve of €3.2 million.

The department also issued just under €205,000 for the 2024 Eco Scheme last week.

€81,000 was paid out under the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

DAFM said that an additional €17,426 was paid to farmers participating in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS). 4,760 farmers have now recieved a total of €57.5 million under the scheme for 2024.

€103,318 was paid out for the National Sheep Welfare Scheme, an additional €53,567 was issued for the Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM) and €102,676 was approved for farmers under the Baling Assistance Payment (BAP).
