Met Éireann has issued a wind warning for several counties as strong and very gusty west to northwest winds are expected tomorrow afternoon and evening (Thursday, December 5).

A Status Yellow wind warning will come into effect for Co. Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal at 1:00p.m tomorrow and will remain in place until 9:00p.m.

The national forecaster warned that falling branches, localised debris and difficult travelling conditions are possible in these counties during the warning.

The UK Met Office has also issued a yellow wind warning for Co. Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry, which will come into effect tomorrow afternoon.

The yellow wind warning will come into effect at 3:00p.m tomorrow until 06:00a.m on Friday (December 6). Some disruption is possible from strong and gusty winds.

According to the national forecast by Met Éireann, rain will clear eastwards early tonight (Wednesday, December 4), with clear spells and well scattered showers following.

Many areas will become dry. Fresh to strong southerly winds will become westerly as rain clears and will ease overnight, with lowest temperatures of 5° to 9°, a little higher in the southwest.

Rain will spread eastwards across Ireland tomorrow and will gradually clear during the afternoon with scattered showers following. Moderate southerly winds will become northwesterly as rain clears.

Winds will increase fresh to strong and very gusty, reaching gale force at times near west and north coasts in the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures will range from 8° to 13° tomorrow.
