The McGinty Tractors open day held up at its Donegal base is now often considered the machinery show for Co. Donegal and beyond.

The company has earned this reputation through hard work and applying itself to serving the farming community in a fraternal manner, rather than setting itself apart as a sophisticated business operation to be approached with trepidation.

Last attended by Agriland in 2023, the weather then shone upon a successful event that drew a large crowd and thankfully the forecast is set to be fair for this year as well.

A major part of the open day's continuing development has been its ability to attract mainstream brands that require dealers to be able to offer a high level of support in the field, a condition it appears quite capable of fulfilling.

McHale is one brand that has enjoyed good sales through the dealership, and there will be a good variety of new and used machines on offer, for a wide choice will always attract customers to a yard.

One of the great advantages of McHale balers is that they are easily serviced whatever their age and at a reasonable cost, leading to a long life on farms that only have a limited requirement for baling.

In addition to McHale, McGinty Tractors hold the franchise for Valtra tractors, establishing the Finnish machines as an acceptable alternative to the big three brands in the region.

Created in a Nordic country where tractors are required to fulfil a variety of distinct roles, Valtra is well suited to the north of Ireland, which boasts of grassland, tillage and forestry as major sectors within its rural industries.

Other brands to be featured at the open day include Kverneland, Fleming, Lely and Nugent, with Kverneland in particular offering strong support at the 2023 event.

McGinty Tractors' open day will be held on April 3 2025 at its base on Clar Road, Donegal.
