Manorhamilton Livestock Mart in Co. Leitrim will reopen on Monday (November 11) for its usual cattle sale at 12:00p.m.
The sheep sale at the mart venue will resume on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm.
Earlier this week, farmers were informed that the mart would be temporarily closed following the death of Ivan Moffitt of Manorhamilton Mart in Co. Leitrim.
Ivan, who lived in Blacklion, Co. Cavan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3.
Liam Gilligan, chair of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) in Co. Leitrim, was among those who had paid tribute to Ivan earlier this week.
“We learned on Sunday morning with great sadness of the passing of our dear friend Ivan Moffat, best known for his management of Manorhamilton Livestock Sales.
“He was a strong community and businessman, always striving to put farmers first. He will be sorely missed from the farming and wider community from north Leitrim and west Cavan and further afield.
“I’d like to sympathise deeply with Ivan’s immediate family, his wife Sarah, and children, Alanna, Harry, Ava and Jack, and to the extended Moffitt and McManus families at this very sad time for them,” he said.
A social media post from Manorhamilton Livestock Sales also stated: “We the Moffitt family deeply regret to inform you of the sudden death of Ivan a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to all.
“He will be forever missed at Manorhamilton Mart and in the farming community. May he rest in Peace”.
