Man (60s) dies in incident on farm in Kerry

Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his 60s has died following an incident on a farm located in Co. Kerry yesterday (Friday, February 14).

It is understood that the incident took place last night in the Ballylongford area in the north of the county.

In a statement to Agriland a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that gardaí went to the scene in response to a medical emergency.

The spokesperson said that the man was pronounced dead at the scene and a file will now be prepared for the local coroner.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) also confirmed to Agriland that it has been informed of the incident and has launched an investigation.

A HSA spokesperson added that no further information is currently available.

Last week, Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 60s died following an incident on a farm in Co. Leitrim.

The incident happened on Tuesday (February 4) on a farm in the Mohill area, which is in the south of the county.

In a statement to Agriland, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred on a farm in Mohill, Co. Leitrim, between 3:30p.m and 8p.m on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

“A man (aged in his 60s) received fatal injuries. His body was removed to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital for a post mortem to be conducted.

“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and investigations are ongoing.”

The HSA also confirmed to Agriland that it has been made aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.
