The Drummin Herd based in Bunratty, Co. Clare hosted a dispersal sale at Roscrea Mart, Co. Tipperary, on Monday October 28.
According to the Irish Limousin Cattle Society, the pedigree herd has been “to the forefront” of the Limousin cattle breed in Ireland since the herd’s establishment over 20 years ago.
The last heifer on offer at the dispersal sale was Lot 210 Drummin Uptowngirl and it was this heifer that took the top price in the sale of €12,000.
Uptowngirl is a daughter of Whinfellpark Lomu and Drummin Raquel (that sold also for €11,100).
The maiden heifer that took the top price was born in April 2023 and found her new home in a Northern Ireland herd.
Lot 203 Drummin Raquel the dam of the aforementioned Uptowngirl is a daughter of Mereside Godolphin and the show cow Naughtybutnice. Raquel was sold with her September-born heifer calf Drummin Vikki (by Westpit Omaha) at foot.
This pair were bought by a Mayo breeder for €11,100.
Foxhillfarm Naughtybutnice was Lot 202 in the sale and was sired by Neuf. She was sold with her twin September-born bull calves sired by Glenrock Redemption at foot (Drummin Vini and Drummin Vici).
Naughtybutnice was the Senior Female of the Year in 2019 she was also Female Champion and Reserve Overall Limousin at the National Show in 2018.
This trio went to a buyer in Northern Ireland for €8,200.
Naughtybutnice’s April 2023-born daughter Drummin Urabeauty sold for €6,600.
Urabeauty was sired by Plumtree Fantastic and also heads to Northern Ireland.
Drummin Tia Maria was lot 204 and this heifer is out of Drummin Little Mix (a Drummin Cliona daughter) and by Plumtree Fantastic.
She sold scanned in-calf to Glenrock Redemption to Co. Donegal for €6,100.
January 2023 born Drummin Ursulla was lot 207 in the sale and found a new home in Co. Kilkenny for a selling price of €5,800.
Ursulla is a daughter of Wilodge Cerberus and Eyrecourt Judo (Malibu X Highlander). Ursulla is due to calf down in late March 2025 to Slieve Pablo.
Lot 205 was Drummin Tanya, a granddaughter of the show cow Drummin Peach.
Selling for €5,500, this two-year-old has Plumtree Fantastic, Ideal 23 and Moustic in her lineage. Tanya was acquired by an established Limousin herd in Co. Down.
Drummin Herd owners John, Jean and Eoghan McInerney wished all purchasers in the sale the very best of luck and the Irish Limousin Cattle Society thanked the family “for their dedication to the breed” over the years.
