Macra and the Agricultural Science Association (ASA) Ireland have linked up to host an event in Co. Laois next month in support of Breast Cancer Ireland.

The special event to recognise International Women’s Day will take place at the Heritage Hotel in Laois, on Thursday, March 7 at 11:00a.m.

Speaking prior to the event, Macra president, Elaine Houlihan said:

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our joint event with ASA, all in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland. We have a fantastic array of speakers lined up, with three announced so far.”

The three speakers announced are Katie Gleeson, Aileen Barron and Ailish Byrne. The Macra president also thanked FBD for sponsoring and supporting such an “important” day.

ASA president, Niamh Bambrick said that they are “delighted” to work with Macra for the event, and she has also encouraged companies across the industry to join them in promoting women in agriculture.

The event agenda is as follows:

  • 11:00a.m -12:00p.m: Arrival and registration;
  • 12:00p.m -12:10p.m: Open address from Macra and ASA presidents;
  • 12:10p.m -12:30p.m: Introduction from keynote speaker;
  • 1:00p.m – 2:00p.m: Panel discussion: ‘Resilient women in our industry’;
  • 2:15p.m – 2:45p.m: Panel discussion: ‘Agri industry – ability to adapt to change’;
  • 2:45P.M – 3:00p.m: Closing address.
