Kverneland has expanded its forage and crop residue management machinery options with the introduction of a new flail chopper.

Named the Tersus 4000, Kverneland claims the machine is "designed for effective mulching with tractors of around 150hp".

The Norwegian company has focused on durability, reliability and ease of operation during the development of the machine.

In addition to that, the Tersus' "practical design aids quick adjustment, cleaning and maintenance", Kverneland said.

Agricultural operators constantly look to extend service intervals with machines so they can do more work without having to take their machinery out of action.

If this process is simplified and accelerated, it makes for less down-time with machines and possibly even more regular services due to convenience.

Kverneland has said that its Tersus 4000 is optimised for grass, crop residues, and biomass.

According to the company, its flail chopper "delivers clean cuts and even residue".

"A robust rotor with durable flails operates smoothly under high loads, supported by balanced construction and maintenance-free ground-contour roller bearings for longevity and low-maintenance operation.

"Reinforced drivetrain components minimise the risk of breakdowns, reducing downtime," it added.

The Tersus 4000 comes in three variants of differing working width:

  • Kverneland Tersus 4023 - 2.35m working width, suited to compact and versatile operations;
  • Kverneland Tersus 4028 - 2.80m working width, aimed at combining capacity and maneuverability while staying within 3.00m transport width;
  • Kverneland Tersus 4032 - 3.25m working width, designed for high-output and large-area coverage.

The company claims that all models will work with tractors ranging from 80-170hp and are equipped with a 500mm hydraulic side shift as standard.

This allows the flail chopper to move 50cm left or right of the tractor's centreline, which Kverneland says will enable more precise work around field edges, headlands and obstacles.

Luc Souquet is a senior product manager for Kverneland Group Ravenna.

He commented on the release, saying: "With Kverneland Tersus, we introduce a robust, high-output flail chopper range designed for customers who rely on dependable performance day after day.

"The machines deliver consistent shredding quality across a wide range of applications, while remaining straightforward to operate and maintain."
