Just over 800 TAMS tranche 4 applications still to be processed

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has said just over 800 of the applications made under tranche 4 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3) are still being processed.

TAMS provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The scheme is is jointly funded by the national exchequer and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) of the European Union under Ireland’s RDP 2014-2022 and Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

The latest data, published by the department, shows that 4,668 (80%) out of the 5,864 applications made in tranche 4 have been approved.

823 applications are "in progress", 246 have been rejected, with a further 127 withdrawn from the scheme.

The department has also confirmed that 62 applications made under tranche 2 of TAMS are still being processed.

8,168 out of 9,110 applications made under that round have secured approval.

There are also 53 cases outstanding in tranche 3. The department said that 3,380 of the 3,799 tranche 3 applications have been given the green light.

No update has yet been provided on the status of applications made under tranche 5.

Farmers are also being reminded that the closing date for applications to be submitted under tranche 6 is Friday, March 7.

This latest round of the scheme includes a new 60% grant aid for nutrient storage investments which has a separate ring-fenced ceiling of €90,000.

The main investments available at the 60% grant rate include: manure pits; mass concrete tanks, including precast tanks; circular slurry stores and geo-membrane lined stores.

DAFM previously announced that tranche 7 of TAMS 3 will close on June 6, tranche 8 will close on September 5 and the deadline for tranche 9 is December 5.
