Gardaí: Man dies in collision between car and ride-on lawnmower

Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his 30s has died following a road crash involving a car and a ride-on lawnmower.

The fatal collision happened on the N76 at Kilcash Cross, Co. Tipperary last night (Friday, April 11).

In a statement, a garda spokesperson said that the incident occurred at approximately 9:50p.m.

"A man, aged in his 30s, travelling on the ride-on lawnmower, was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. There were no other injuries reported.

"The road remains closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning. Local diversions are in place," the spokesperson added.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area on the N76 between 9.30pm and 10.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on (052) 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station," the garda spokesperson said.

Earlier this week, gardaí confirmed that a teenage boy had died following a road traffic incident involving a tractor in Co. Kerry.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal incident, involving the tractor and a pedestrian, at Beaufort Bridge between Killarney and Killorglin around 7:30p.m. on Monday (April 7).

The pedestrian, Michael Coffey from Killarney, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is understood that the teenager had been fishing in the area with his father and a number of others yesterday, before the incident.

Michael was laid to rest in New Rath Cemetery in Tralee yesterday.

The male driver of the tractor, who was aged in his 20s, was uninjured.
