Following the discovery of a body of a male in Co. Kerry this afternoon (January 2, 2026), the missing person appeal in relation toJeremiah Downing (72) has been stood down.

Jeremiah Downing was reported missing from his home in Sneem, on Thursday (January 1).

Jeremiah was reportedly last seen on the N70 road between Castlecove and Sneem at approximately 5:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

At the time, in a statement, gardai said that due to a recent medical incident, they and Jeremiah’s family had been concerned for his wellbeing.

Appeal

Gardaí at the time appealed to anyone who travelled on the N70 road between Castlecove and Sneem from 3:00pm onwards on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and who had dash-cam footage or saw a pedestrian to contact them.

An Garda Síochána has thanked the public for their assistance and response to the appeal.
