The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) continues its ‘Breakfast Bites’ webinars next week.

The second webinar in a series of free, informal virtual meetings for food businesses – ‘Starting a Food Business – What You Need to Know’ – will be held on Thursday, April 8, from 10:00am to 10:40am.

Foteini Bompola, technical executive of communications with the ‎FSAI, will outline what you need to do in order to set up a food business, who you should talk to and what food legislation you need to comply with.

All food businesses must be aware of legislation

The short presentation will cover all types of food businesses, including food trucks and other mobile units. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Encouraging people to sign up for the webinar Dr. Pamela Byrne, chief executive of the FSAI, said: “All food businesses, big or small, whether operating from a business premises, in the home or from a mobile unit or food stall, must be aware of the legislation regarding food hygiene and food safety.

It is the responsibility of the food business owner for ensuring the food they produce and sell is safe to eat.

“We would encourage anyone who is thinking of or in the process of setting up a food business to attend this short webinar, which will cover everything you need to know from a food safety and hygiene perspective.”

Places are limited and registration, which can be done online via the FSAI website, is free.
