The seasonal spectacle that is Estuary Rollers’ Christmas tractor and truck run will take place on Sunday, December 8 at 4:00p.m from Listowel mart.
“The event brings joy and fun to everyone who witnesses the wonderful colour and fantastic goodwill that this spirited event means to so many people in north Kerry and west Limerick,” said Laura Scanlon, secretary and PRO.
This year, the committee at Estuary Rollers has selected the Nano Nagle School Listowel; Milford Hospice, Limerick and St Gabriel’s Foundation Limerick as their chosen charities.Â
“We are delighted to announce a new addition, which includes the participation of trucks. We have no doubt that this will add to the event,” Scanlon said.
The parade of tractors and trucks, bedecked in Christmas lights and tinsel, will travel through the town of Listowel, Knockanure and continue through to the village of Moyvane.
From there, the entourage will head for the village of Tarbert and onwards to the village of Glin. The bedecked tractors and trucks will then move to the Knockdown Arms where the event will conclude.
“In 2023, 229 tractors took part in what was a memorable occasion. Over the past four years, we have raised over €50,000 for local charities,” said Scanlon.
To participate, every tractor and truck pays a fee of €25. D & N Catering will be at Listowel mart and every participant tractor and truck driver will be treated to a burger, chips and drink to get them fuelled for their charity journey.
“Santa’s grotto is going to be a great new attraction this year at Listowel livestock mart. Between 2:00p.m and 4:00p.m families will be able to visit Santa in the beautifully decorated Christmas grotto.
“Children will receive Christmas gift bags, with all proceeds going to the three chosen charities.Â
“The entire tractor and truck run will be led by none other than Santa himself. Santa’s sleigh is presently having repairs done at a workshop in a hideaway.
“Leading the Estuary Rollers around north Kerry and west Limerick is an honourable task for Santa and his sleigh,” said Scanlon.
